Ask our team forum
I suppose in this forum Starboard team should answer questions from costumers.
Funny how lots of questions are not answered by the team and most are not answered at all.
Why keep it?

Replacing F147
Hi all,
I´ve got a Formula F147 as my light wind board from 8 to 12 knots. From then on I use my other board Is105.
I use my F147 with a Severne Overdrive 8.5 and I like it as it planes early...

RE: Harness line position - larger sails
Hi Klint,
I did the same with my 8.5 Severne OD.
It feels strange in the beggining but if I´m not wrong, Guy himself says that you´re not supposed to be super comfortable and that there will...

RE: Pros and cons of smaller sails on Formula
Per,
I,m 67Kg and my experience with FW 147 is with 6.5 GTX and 8.5 Overdrive Severne, in winds from 7 to 15 knots.
IMHO big sails are for racing or very little wind conditions. If you´re not...

RE: My board: Isonic 105 dram
Hi Erik,
Commom conception is that footstraps placed further back are best for speed. I have mine both all forward just as a starting point on my iS105.
I suppose you played with them could you...

RE: iSonic 105, high winds, lightweight sailor
o2bnme,
Have you tried to really load on the mast base? I mean more than what you normally do?
IMHO iS105 likes to be powered up and light guys (like me) are better off with that extra load,...

RE: iSonic 105, high winds, lightweight sailor
Hi o2bnme,
Unfortunately I do not have your answers, I??ve sailed my iS105 just a couple of times. However seems to me that weed fins aren't the thing to have on a competition but I know you 've...

RE: Fin Size Isonic 125
Thanks a lot Roger and Ian,
It seems that iS hulls do not generate as much power as HSs so bigger fins go better (c/w HS).
The reason for my question was that I?ve just bougth an iS105 new but...

I do not know what the chances are but I think they?re pretty small.

RE: iSonic105 technical ride
Ian,
Thanks a lot for putting in a clear way what I do feel at my place. That is exactly what I have very often.
Many times winds are in the 6 to 10 knots range when with HS133 and 8.5 I can...

While I do tend to agree with you based on commom sense and physics my own experience leads me to a different conclusion given certain conditions.
IMHO in fresh water and...

RE: iSonic105 technical ride
Ian,
Thanks a lot.
Do you think I would plane a couple of knots earlier on a iS145 compared to iS133 both on 8.5 sail?

RE: iSonic105 technical ride
Hi MA_Pete and 02bnme,
Thanks guys!
I intend to use my iS105 with 6.5 and 5.5 sails I suppose it will be fine.
My previous doubt was if iS133 would plane earlier than HS133 both with 8.5 sail....

RE: iSonic105 technical ride
Thanks PG and MA_Pete,
PG,
I?d be very happy if I could plane in 9 to 10 knots with iS105 on a 8.5, which I can on my HS133 and could not do on C111.Maybe my technique is not that good I?ll check...

iSonic105 technical ride
Hi Ian,
I?ve just bought an iS105 which replaces a Carve111. My other board is a HS133 and I found that C111 and HS 133 have a bigger overlap than I antecipated. So it made a lot more sense...
