I'm not Roger, but I can answer. You can replace the barrel nuts in your fins. I've done a lot of this in an constant battle to get all fins to use the same type of bolts. Take a flat screw driver...

Interesting difference... if the Kombat is more wave oriented, why is it the only one of these boards that has an option for two back footstraps on the 79-liter board? RRD's and JP's don't give this...

My only cam sail is a 9.8 V8. The others are all no-cam (Huckers & a Retro). I have never felt that I didn't have the necessary power to get through lulls and the sails are more stable and easier to...

Hmm... Accidents. I'll set aside the stupid things I've done -- like heading out to sail 5 minutes before a thunderstorm/hailstorm arrived.

If people worry about hitting the mast, no matter what...

You have a valid point.

Starboard posts that their board weights are within +/-5%. 99 liters is outside that variance... if my math is correct, it is close to 6.5% above the listed 93 liters.

I'm hoping Roger Jackson gets the 79-liter Kombat in his arsenal this year. I'm trying to decide between the JP FSW 77, RRD FSW 78 & Kombat 79.

You have at least one broken link on the MyBoard page... I didn't look through this whole thread to see if someone else has mentioned, and I didn't test other links. The Futura 111 link has a case...

Great thread. This is exactly what I have been asking for years. I want to get a smaller board -- like a K79. The Kombat is cost prohibitive because I would have to get a new quiver of fins. Any...

I like that SB has updated their line. I guess I feel it would have been fine to continue using the S-Type name for the new (Futura) boards instead of giving them a new name. In the case of Futura,...

RE: Cashy fin vs Deboichet

I'll leave it to experts and add another question... what is the wait time like for a Cashy? Is it still measured in months (and almost years)?

RE: Futura

It does.

I imagine they will improve on what has been an excellent product. But I'm a little confused on why Starboard has decided to change the name. I guess when we see the full 2008 line up it...

RE: F-148 (05) - Fin size

With my F-Type 148, I use a 9.8 V8. I find I am comfortable with anything from a 66 to 70 cm fin with this sail/board combo. When I want to plane as early as possible, the 70cm fin comes out. I find...

RE: which iS for 65Kg guy wanting to plane from 9 kts on?

If you are set on getting a iSonic, I would go for the iS155 with a 9.5-10m2 sail. I have an F-Type 148 and use it with a 9.8m2 V8. This, with a 70cm fin, gets me going very early. I weigh 65kg. A...

RE: Am I right about the mast foot position all the way back on an F-type?

I tend to agree. I am 65kg and have stopped putting my mast foot forward at all. I always leave it as far back as possible. If the board takes off, I'm getting better at controlling this situation...

RE: Am I right about the mast foot position all the way back on an F-type?

The more I sail my FT148, the more I realize I like the mast track all the way back. I haven't moved it from this location in well over a year. I use a 9.8 v8 on it the most. The other sail is an...

RE: Quiver update: Retros vs Huckers for B&F

That's probably a good guess, but don't forget that you can continue to use the sail in higher winds than you would expect... just downhaul the sail more.

My afternoon session yesterday turned...

RE: Quiver update: Retros vs Huckers for B&F

I have it downhauled to the mark on the sail. I switched to the zFree 460. This truly feels much better than the Backbone 460 with this sail. The big thing is not trying to go out in 7.5 conditions...

RE: Quiver update: Retros vs Huckers for B&F

Well, I managed to get a quick sail in this morning from 8am to 9:30am. It was pretty gusty, but the gusts were big enough to get me across the lake where I would wait for the next gust. I had the...

I've been meaning to try to get my hands on some of Wolfgang's fins, but for now, I use Tangent Reapers. They are great fins... you can get them at Sailworld @ Avon. He has quite a good selection. I...

RE: Early Planing? But no Apollos :-(

I'd love to get a 161 for the lightest of winds. I'm not interested in the extreme of the Apollo because I would still want to be able to use the board in strong winds. I have an F-Type 148, and I've...

RE: I sonic 145 VS F-Type 138

How powered up is the sail? I did a comparison between my F-Type 148 and the iSonic 155. I found them to be similar. But I would say the F-Type was a little friendlier and slower. Basically, I found...

RE: rolling sails

I'm not sure what to say to that. You should roll the sail the same why it came to you. Most sails are rolled so the top is on the inside and the bottom is on the outside. Roll it tight enough so it...

I'm a Hucker convert. I have the 6.6, 5.6, & 4.8 and am looking at the 4.2 and 3.7 I'm loving the 4.8 & 5.6 the most. I'm still figuring out the 6.6. I haven't had many 6.6 days yet. Also, I only...

RE: Replacing my S-type 115

I am on my 2nd season of heavy usage (F-Type 148 Wood). It was Roger's demo board for a year prior to me getting my hands on it. It has a few repairs from being abused while out on demo, but I would...
