I am 80kg at the moment! ... sure, a 110 and 8.6 is working for me but you will need a bigger board, definitely. I was recommending the above for 'Carve' who is 72kg ...

For yourself, the best...

+1 on what Chris said with the 42 for the 110. It's perfect.

If you are doing figure-8 style slalom racing with a bit of upwind you can also run a 44cm for a bit more power.

Hmmmmm, I'm not sure I can comment on the Maverx masts as I've never seen one before in Australia. Typically, if you put a 460+extendor instead of the 490, you get quite a soft feeling mast. The...

What would I be using?

The Overdrive. I got some for a photoshoot earlier in the year and sailed them a bunch in over/underpowered conditions. There is almost zero difference in top end speed...

Go for the OVERDRIVE!

Unless you're trying to do the World Tour, I don't why anyone would want to sail full race sails with all the cams. The Overdrive is soooooo much easier to rig, feels lighter...

+1 on Remi's comments with the 110 + 9.5m combo. The 8.6 is really perfect for this board and you can get planing pretty early with it!

Steve Allen used the 9.2m a little with the 110 this year...

I prefer the wood. It feels a lot more softer under your feet as it flexes a little as you go over chop which gives you a softer, more controlled ride in really strong winds ... but you lose a bit of...

Why race a yacht and a moth using the latest technology and designs against a 10-year old windsurfer? The windsurfing gear of the past 2-3 seasons is unequivocally faster. Probably had a Drake fin...

38 is tiny for the 110 !! I am using 44cm Z-Fin with 7.0/7.8 and 46cm with 8.6m ...

A bigger fin definitely gives you more lift, earlier planing and more drive through the lulls; it helps to...

Hi Jarekg,

You probably already have the best fin!

Last season I used 44cm most of the time on my 117w with 8.6 - 7.8 - 7.0. I was using a Z-Fin 44cm which should be pretty similar to the...

Tough to say whether one would plane earlier than the other ... comes down to how much work you put in to it.

I have both the 127 / 117w. Raced the 117w on the PWA in 2012, and the 127 in 2011....

Hi Gabriel,

If you are planning to do any racing on this new board, I would DEFINITELY go for the HWR. Without going in too much details, the HWR simply has better angle/speed upwind and downwind...

Can confirm the 97 + 110 combo. That's what I'll be using on the tour and also it's a great combo to cover 10-25 knots which is what I get at my home spot.

The 110 is perfectly suited for the 8.6...

Hi Pelegrin,

I used the same board in 2011 on the PWA. I was 80kg at the time. I think us lighter riders need to work to get more weight on the back of the board over the fin which a heavier rider...
