ease of catching a wave
Would it be safe to say that one can get more board speed paddling the 11.2 than the 9.8; and, one would catch waves earlier?
For example, two identical sailors on the same forming wave paddling...

Acid and Evo turning technique differences
At 78 kg, have had some comfort with the '06 Evo '74 in high wind, even overpowered with a flat 4.2 sail in Cape Town, on fast waves rarely over 3 meters. At some point my '06 Evo '83 gets too big...

I think heat helps release loctite? You could try a hair dryer as it might not damage the plastic and rubber.

'06 Pure Acid 86L tail shape

what makes a board turn
When looking at a board, I often cannot predict how it will sail and turn.
Newer models have less rocker, more speed, less fin sweep, etc.
Rear concave and sharp rail give grip on a carve....
