Hi Tim,

I have experience with the iS87 and also the S95 in GPSSS speedsurfing.

You ask whether the iS96 can handle a 7.2 racesail. Should be no problem.
I used a 7.4 racesail on my -smaller-...

GPSSS - iS76 vs iS87

What (if any) is the advantage of iS76 over iS87 for GPSSS speedsurfing?
I want to improve performance in the windrange 6.2 SqM and smaller. Compared with the iS87 the iS76 is smaller overall, but...

RE: Different technique required for isonic 101 for speed compared to traditional shapes?

Hi Thierry,

Until now, I only used the 7.4 sail on the iS101. Hence the 35 fin.

Will try a shorter fin (30 or 32) once I get to use the 6.2 sail.
Spinout is not the problem. But with a too...

RE: Different technique required for isonic 101 for speed compared to traditional shapes?

Best speed so far 63.3 kmh (2 second) with 7.4 sail.
On it's predecessor (SX 106) I got a GPSmax of 68.4 with a 6.2 sail, and multiple 65+ on 7.4 sail. So still missing at least 3 kmh.

On the...

I hope Doby is not right, and that Ian is just away from internet access.

In the meantime, I have gotten reaction on the windsurfing33 forum. Advise was to put the mastfoot at 129-130. This is...

A mon avis la IS50 a...

RE: choix isonic 87/94

Avec ton poids (65 kg) et ta voile (5.8): 87, sans hesitation.
J'ai eu la 95 (precurseur du 94). C'est une bonne planche pour vent medium (15 nds); voile ideale est de 7.0. Mais le pont est trop...

-then 1 mm tailkick over last 1 cm (progressive...

RE: Different technique required for isonic 101 for speed compared to traditional shapes?

Additional trim info: back and front strap both all the way back. Also tried back holes 1 to front, but then the board was less free.
No tailwalks even in strong wind (measured 18-25 knots; gusts up...

RE: Different technique required for isonic 101 for speed compared to traditional shapes?

Hi Marko,

Thanks for the quick reply.
I already apply lots of downhaul in my sails. Most speedies (including me) use more downhaul than prescribed (and a bit less outhaul). In my case +3 cm.

Different technique required for isonic 101 for speed compared to traditional shapes?

Hi all,

I have the iSonic 101 and 87 - for speedsurfing.

I have a problem in getting the 101 up to my "normal" speeds.
Performance on upwind and beam reach is good. But somehow I cannot find...

RE: Suitable fins with iS87

Hi Hans,

The stock 32 cm drake is OK for the 6.2 (you know I also have that size). It gives a lot of lift for its length. Probably due to relatively wide tip. For a 6.2 sail a 30 cm fin is too...

Finsize for speedsurfing with Sonic 95 (2006)

I have recently bought a Sonic 95 (2006 closesout) for speedsurfing with medium winds. The stock fin supplied with it is a 32 cm Drake / Deboichet.

I suppose the stock fin is optimized for medium...

RE: For Ian F: Drake Fins

Hi Mark,

You might want to try one of Wolfgang Lessacher's speedfins:

Very fast and virtually impossible to spin out.

RE: Which iSonic (94 or 101)

Hi Ian,

Thanks for your thorough response.

One additional question: iSonic 50 vs iSonic87 for speed.

I sails mostly at Strand Horst NL which (as you probably know) is an easy speed-spot....
