RE: Beginner to intermediate - which board? S-Cross 140 or Bic Nova 165?
thats quite tricky deciding what to go for. I would go for the exocet s-cross becuase you don't want to end up with 2 boards which are too similar e.g the start and bic 165. Or go for the bic 283 which is cheaper as i found the first few board you get always take more damage, putting a hole in a 700euro board is quite bad. I learned short boarding on an old bic veloce 120 ltrs and im ok on that after a few weeks so leanring on the s-cross won't be too hard. As for rig im not sure the 6.2 or the 6.8 would give you much more range compared to the 5.5. Maybe going for a 7.0 - 8.5 would be better becuase it will let you learn planning in lighter winds where its not so hard as you said that there was mainly light winds where you are. I use a second hand 7.0 on my Starboard Start and it works brilliantly. Hope it helps.
