Floyd makes a good point here.
If you found a good high quality Stainelss "D" shackle the correct width to replace the integrated roller pulley assembly, you could then cut the top pin on the integrated pulley with a hack saw (do this very carefully) and replace the pulley assembly with the "D" shackle and use that to hook your pulley hook onto.
But you still have the same problems with not having the grommet up higher in the sail to compensate for the length of the pulley hook.
