Hi viduka12,
Is the centerboard up or down when you are trying to do your jibes?
If you have the center board in the down/deployed position, the board has a hard time turning around both the centerboard and the rear fin.
Try your jibes with the centerboard up (stowed inside the board).
The alternative is to learn a "sink jibe" where you move back far enough so the nose comes up pretty high and you can pivot the board around the rear fin with much less effect from the centerboard.
Also, you need to really "tip" your 8.5 m2 rig well over the side of the board to drive the board around the jibe.
The more you rake the rig out to the side, the faster your board will turn.
