I used to have a C144 and often used it with the stock fin and a 9.4 though usually I used a 52cm select fin.

The spinning out is usually caused by excessive back foot pressure. This could be caused by a number of things such as too little downhaul or outhaul, too low boom, badly positioned harness lines, mast foot position or stance problems.

Anything that is causing you to pull with the back hand while sailing will increase the risk of spin out so you really need to look at the above things before investing in a new fin.
