I prefer the wood. It feels a lot more softer under your feet as it flexes a little as you go over chop which gives you a softer, more controlled ride in really strong winds ... but you lose a bit of early planing in the low end compared to the carbon boards (that being said, I'm not really looking for "low end" performance on an 87L board!).

PS...go for the 2014 87 in wood. The new shapes are EXTREMELY awesome. Although I think you miss out on the blue colour with the wood? Haven't seen the wood boards yet ...
