I am looking to move down in volume from my current 150 ltr/ 75cm wide board. I weigh 65 kilos and have got the basics of windsurfing covered (Waterstarts/Carve gybes...some planning). I sail on a lake with winds generally in the 12-16 kt range, light chop and with the 8.0 sail 90% of the time. Would the Carve 121 be the correct size for the 8.0/6.5 combo under these conditions and for my weight. Would there be a big difference in the early planning of 121 vs 150 ltr board in these conditions?

a fellow i windsurf with is about 80 kilos
he uses a Carve 122 almost ALL the time with sails 7.5 to 9.0 !! he states this board performs better than his 162 liter board so, in terms of performance sounds like this is a winner i would also guess that for your weight early planing should not be an issue my only issue is the word lake if it is a large lake fine - if not, I stick to the longboard on the lake where i go i donut use my 160 liter nor my FreeFormula on the lake any more too many wind changes, holes and shadows good winds jw |
