Default IS110 - Medium/Heavy weight - 8.6ish sail

Who has experience with the IS110 in combination with a 8.6ish sail and weighs around 87-90 kg (191-198 lbs) ?

I'm 87 kg and use quite often my 8.8 sail on my IS122 when the wind is stable enough.
It's a super combo. When the wind drops off a bit, I usually go for my US147 with the same 8.8 sail.
But it happens from time to time, when the wind drops off too suddenly, that I need to uphaul the 8.8 on my IS122. Especially when the water is still very cold, I'm not eager to wait and waterstart. Although the IS122 has a real volume of only 114L, I still can manage to uphaul the sail, but it is on the edge.

Now, how about the IS110, which has even 4L less ?
It troubles me a bit.

Anyone with experience ?

Am led to believe the iS110 has 117 ltr volume and combined with its aspect ratio makes it quite the weapon!

Hi Belskorpio,

I am 93 Kgs and use the 110 who is exactly 110 Liters with 8.6 & 7.8 and no problem at all. The board have a very good balance when go under water and don't disturb me at all.

I think you will love it over your 122

Have fun

Default Is 110

Hi belskorpio,
I also use isonic 110 carbon 2013 with 8.6 north Warp (I'm 92 Kg) , it's a fantastic board which start planning quickly.
it also keep the planning for a long time, even when the wind drops.
the choice of fin is very sensitive, it can change dramatically the control of this board.
I use a 45 in low wind, and a gasoil 42CHR gasoil in medium/high wind, and I continue to test other fins to find the best compromises.

Hi unregistered, have you ever been on the older IS122 ?
Would be nice to hear your comparison.
Have you ever uphauled your 8.6 sail on it ?
What is your low wind range in knots ?
What is your high wind range in knots and how does the board behave in nasty chop ? Do you use it on rather flat waters or unprotected open waters ?

Hi belskorpio,
IS 110 is my first Starboard, so I can't compare with other boards of the range.
7.8 and 8.6 are for me the best 2 sails for this board, 8.6 is still easy to uphaul.
My low wind range : 13/15 knots (below 13 Knots I use a FW 168L + 11mē)
High Wind range : 22/25 knots
I usually use the board on very flat water (a lake) , I used it sometimes at the see, in nasty chop it's ok, but IS 107 will probably be better.

Hi,

Super to hear that you still can uphaul it easily.
Yes, I would also use only 7.8 and 8.8 on it.
Your low wind range 13/15 is very similar c/w mine on the 122.
Your high wind range I find quite high. In 22/25 knots I'm either on my IS87 or on a wave board. But anyway, it is nice to hear that it can handle this wind range. Even the flattest off-shore water will become choppy unless you stay very close to the shore or a dam, typcially a "speed strip".
