Default Kode86 - fins

Hi,

To get a little more freeride performance and early planing out of the Kode86 what type of fin could/should I use in the Kode86. Thanks!

Try the Drake Crossover (which is a Curtis design, so you will find a similar fin in the Curtis program) or some other more upright fin. Size depend on sail size and personal preference. A 26 will give you a fair bit more grunt than the original Drake Natural 25, but you could go for something like a 28 if you really want to maximize fin drive. That would work best with outboard strap setting though.

I order the wave/slalom from Vector fins in 28 and 30 to use with my MauiSauils Switch 6.0. It works super good.

Thanks for the advice!

I'll probably go with the Select FreeStyle/Wave fin. Biggest sail I'll be using on my K86 is a 5.5m. Not sure if I should go 25cm or 27cm?

Hi unregistered

Excellent fins for the Kode, Select fsw's. I use 23 and 27 for 5.0 and 6.0. If you want more early planing grunt, go for 27, and if you want more allround range and better top end, then go for 25 (but you have stock Drake Natural if things get hairy).

Thanks Screamer, I think the 25cm Select FSW is the way to go also. Never owned a Select fin but am hearing a lot of good reports. Keen to try one.
