Broken Fiberspar Mast
My Fiberspar Reflex 5000 QT 520 mast broke today while using a Retro 9.5 in fairly light conditions. The break occurred in the lower mast just below the ferrule. I've read previous postings and suspect that the mast joint separated in the sail before cranking the downhaul. I'll be extra careful rigging in the future and will tape the joint to help prevent separating.
My questions: Is it possible to replace just the bottom section of this mast? Do the manufacturer's even sell just bottom sections or would I have to look on the used market? |
