Default Boom Height = Big Difference on board feeling?

During my last sail with my Futura 93l I was mostly completely over powered on my 5.8m (wind : 15- 35knts). However, once near the beach I felt I had good power in my sail but the board simply wouldn't free up of the water.

Compared to the session I had had before, the board felt much stickier to the water, even though my mast base and sail were tuned the same. After derigging I realized that the only possible variable was my boom height, which had lowered about 5-10cm while sailing over powered in super tough chop. Still not 100% sure this is to blame...

Has anyone else actually felt a noticeable difference in early planing due to moving the boom up?

Cheers,

Adrien
