Hello
I'm looking for a light wind board. I surf for almost 5 years now and surf since 2 years on a Futura 101L (6,2m˛Hellcat and 7m˛NCX). I really like this board because it is easy to sail and very fast. I've learned a lot and I'm ready to take the next step. Now I'm looking for a light wind board to sail with my 7m˛ NCX and 8,5m˛ Overdrive. But I can't choose between the Isonic 121 or Futura 133. I would choose the Futura because it is familiar to me but maybe I can make more progression on the Isonic. I always bought a board which needed extra practice to be able to surf with to keep progression visible. Would the step from 101L Futura to 121L Isonic be to big? Greetz |

Hi Greetz,
The Futura 101 with 6,2 and 7m are perfect to use your 7 and 8.5, I will say the iSonic 121 perfect with the 8.5 and will give early planning ability. The step between this 2 boards will enough big to not overlap too much A R16 44 will be perfect for the 121. Hope this help All the best All the best

What will be the difference between the futura 133 and Isonic concerning performance? How much technique do you need to sail the Isonic before you can enjoy the board?

Hi Leysenkr,
The isonic are more direct, small mistake on Futura didn t have really an effect your speed but isonic yes. But don t be afraid the board is not hard just if you ride a race machine is better to use minimum 3 cams sails like Overdirve so your 8.5 will be perfect. By the way you will plane earlier with the iSonic 121 than the Futura 133 despite the volume difference, this difference come from the wider tail If you ride already Futura 101 with 6.2, you should have enough experience to use a big iSonic like the 121 Hope this help All the best

I have actually sailed both with a 7,0m2 NP RS 2010 - Amazingly it works also in marginal conditions. The iSonic of course is a tad quicker, and has am more uncushioned direct feel. But it is also less comfortable. The futura is just the most comfortable board out there - and still lightening fast. Both jibe extremely well.
The isonic is the most accesable race board i have ever tried - Still I would go for the futura because it puts that great smile on your face in every condition. |

The Futura 133 should be fine with a 7.0 at your weight. I use mine on flat water with a 6.6 Naish Sprint & I weigh 79 kg.
