Remi,
I am patiently awaiting the arrival of my new F161 and was wondering what additional fin you would recommend. I am approx 82kg and this will be my first Formula board. I intend to get a 9.8 rig for high winds as well as a 10.7 for light to medium winds. Can you advise as to what additional fin would be beneficial. I sail primarily in Miami and the wind range is anywhere from 7 - 20 knots. Ocassionally we get the 25+ days, but on those days, I am more likely to move to a slalom board rather than the F161. prsurf |

Hi prsurf,
For light wind until 15 knots, I recommand you the R19 soft -- rake + 8cm. Over the R13 soft rake + 8 or + 6 cm have a really good glide and lift. All the best

Hi Remi,
would you please comment on R18 s- ? How about it? Is it so less powerfull than r19s-- ? Any idea fo its wind range ? Having it less area and profil do you think it can be easier to push to keep a good speed ? thank you |

Hi G,
The R 18 is a bit more porwefull than the R17 with is wide tip. Not enough for the F161 under 15 knots. Over this limit the R13 profil is my best one, but the R17 an give also good results in stable wind and particulary fast downwind. The R 18 have too much drags to accelerate downwind over 15 knots and not enough power upwind under 15 knots. All the best

So rider weight can't affect the result.I mean,I've hoped (in lack of immediate availability of r19) that being lighter than you I've could done fine on this available fin when light.Another reason is that from what I've listened the r19 seems difficult to push in more than 12-13 kns .
But ok,if I have to wait for the best result I'll do it! Thank you Remi |
