Hi Donovan,

You`re right to say that you would spend the same money to travel to other continent competing and buying a new rig. But look how extraordinary it can be!

With the new rules approved, there will be only one rig choice and this rig won`t change on the next year.

Everybody likes to know new places, new cultures and new people, make new friends and share experiences! Think about do all of this in an well organized Windsurfing event!!! Sounds great, right?

I can`t wait to go to Asia to compete in a FEOD event. In my case, I have already ordered my One Design rig and as it won`t change on next year, I could save money to travel or invest in other toy like a slalom board, or a SUP!

At the very first moment, you`ll have to purchase your kit and spend your budget on it. So, probably you won`t attend at major events at the other side of the world. As you will take care of your equipment, it will be competitive for years and you`ll be able to save some money again to enjoy a very pleasant trip overseas in the future competing in this wonderful racing class.

But you`d like to compete at now, and you`re right again! So be in touch with the Starboard distributor in your country and start to develop the FE class there! Here in Brazil the class started at the local clubs and fleets too and now we have a national circuit with events taking place in many states whole year.

With a proactive approach it won`t take much time to happen there. We have a very positive example in Chile, where in a few months the class went from 0 to 40 boards. In 2009 they organized the first national event and this year we`ll have the continental South American Championships happening there! Too fast, isn`t it?

The FE greatest point is that the equipment is really nice not only for racing. The Formula board is wonderful in 7-30 knots and it`s not only the racing class FE that is atracting people. People take the equipment to actually sail on it and enjoy everything the Formula board/rig can offer in terms of range and performance. The competition is a natural consequence, but it`s just one gateway to the FE class.

Looking at the class` future by this point of view we can only conclude that FE has a huge growth potential. It was formatted by the sailors' demand and not by the brand supplier. It`s a big difference!

See you

30 knots? i want to see the anemometer when a formula board is being used in 30 knots.
Maybe in the UK the wind is colder or something because in 30 knots the sea state is rough and you aint sailing a formula board.
