Default A 90 or 97.

Hey guys,

I sail X-15's in 8.3, 7.0 and 5.8 sizes, then I drop down to more a freerace 5.2 before jumping onto my wave kit.

I'm going to buy a 124 Futura for my 8.3 which I think will be pretty sweet and sometimes use my 7m. (I weight about 80kg and mainly sail UK south coast chop).

But I'd like to buy a 90 or 97 as well and can't decide which!? It looks like the 97 would be great with my 5.8 and 7m but the 90 might be better with a 5.2, good with a 5.8 but not take the 7m.

Any thoughts? Thanks.

Hi Tommy G

For those sails the 97 iSonic will be to big as is for 6.2 to 7.8 to get the best performances.

You should look at the 87 for 5.2 to 7.0

All the best

Default Thanks, but it was a question about Futuras :)

The 97ltr Futura reads that it takes sails from 4.5m - 7.5m, so I assumed that a 5.2 and a 7m would work ok but be on it's limits, with the 5.8 being good as it's near the middle sweet spot sail size?

Where as the 90ltr Futura reads that it takes sails from 4.0 - 7.0m, so the 5.2 and 5.8 would be great in the middle sweet spot size but the 7m might be a bit too big?

But I guess what you are saying is that the 90ltr could carry all these sails ok?

Thanks.

Tommy G,
Remi is talking about Isonics here, and you seem to be looking at Futuras.
To get an Isonic 97 or 90 up into it's full performance range and to take
advantage of an Isonic's terrific speed potential, they are sailed significantly
overpowered (larger sail sizes) than you would normally use for recreational
sailing on a similar size/volume Futura.
Plus, you sail in UK south coast chop, which may make the Futura a better
choice as it will handle more chop more comfortably than a similar size
Isonic.
You can put your sail sizes on both the Isonic and the Futura, but to
get the full performance from these boards, at Remi's sailing level
the Isonic will carry significantly larger sails to achieve the full performance.
Hope this helps,
Roger

Default Thanks Roger

Yeah, I'm talking about Futuras (wood). I have a 122 Futura already and am looking to get a 97 Futura as well. But I was wondering about a 90ltr instead.

So the basic question was 'which Futura would suit my sails sizes of 5, 6 and 7m best for normal south coast chop blasting and an 80kg advanced rider, a 90 or 97 Futura?

I'm currently favouring the 97ltr.

Many thanks.

Hi Tommy G

It's depend of which sail you will use the most, if 7m go definitely to 97 and it's 5 go for the 90, but important to know the 7.0 working great on the 90.

All the best
