Hypersonic 133 liters - tips?

Just got a used 133 liter Hypersonic. Short and stout. Any specific technique / positioning to best utilize this shape/board? Thanks!

Nothing special except start planning more down wind then classic shape and still a very good board for long distance with wide wind range, only the jibe who is poor for the exit jibe.

Just tried the Hypersonic 133 for the first time yesterday.

It was VERY hard to get going and felt like a tug boat. I was using a 7.5 sail in 15-18 mph winds. I tried pumping and bearing off/everything but it felt like it was just stuck to the water and didn't want to go. When a gust came I was able to get on a plane and once on a plane the board felt pretty fun, fast, stable and eager to charge on, but man.. it was really hard without significant wind and other guys around me where planing left and right.

Just wondering if a larger fin (bigger than the Drake longer fin which came with it might help), or if I simply need more wind to get that board going. With the straps so outboard it also really seemed to need more wind to get locked in.

???? I 've read threads that people either love or hate this board, and I gotta say I love it on a plane but hate it the rest of the time!!

Does this all sound accurate or am I just not sailing this board correctly/as intended??

I have a 2nd hand hyper 105 litre. It took me about 3 or 4 sessions to get used to it but now it goes great. It gets planing pretty easy. Using a C3 venom 42cm.

I am 104kg so I can only use it in planing winds so I can't comment on slogging. But if you are big as me I would say use a bigger sail. In those winds I am using an 8.4m and i would go even bigger if i had a bigger sail.

Also wondering if a longer fin (longer than the two stock fins which came w/the board) might help in light wind conditions- my biggest sail is a 7.5 and I'm sailing this board in Colorado (15-18 mph winds). I weigh 185 pounds. If so, a recommendation on an ideal fin for this board for these conditions?

Also, does anyone feel like sailing their hypersonic has made them a better sailor overall since they board is a bit fussy and nose-divey, or is it just a completely diff animal and dialing in one has no bearing on the other? THanks. This odd fat little board has me intrigued..

What sail is the 7.5? The stock fin was OK, however a good 42cm for the 7.5 would be the go. Once you get the hang of the Hyper, it will improve your sailing, no doubt, just stick with it

This board was deliver with 2 fins, a 34 and a 42, which on you are using?

I was using the longer fin which it came with- assuming that is the 42.

The sail I'm using is a 2 camber Maui Sails Titan 7.5 (biggest sail I have)

Do you think that a longer fin than the 42 and/or perhaps more of a formula size fin would help in the lighter wind to get it up on a plane? Thanks. And thanks everyone for your feedback. It's nice to know I'm not alone in having some initial difficulty getting this board up and moving.

To get planning is better to Start with a more deep down Wind angle with energic pomping and after The Board go really well particularly in the lulls. Better to use 8.5 on it, it was my best size on it with the 42..
