Hello Guys (and Girls?),
I recently bought a Kode 86 (2012) and still looking for sails. Looking on the internet I found quite some people who are using the kode 86 with a no cam slalom sail in choppy conditions. Is this doable and what kind of fin would you recommend? I am thinking of getting a NCX 5.5 and 6.0 and maybe a gator 5.0. IS this a good range? Can you sail the NCX with a rdm mast? Thanks! I've already used a full race sail (Warp 5.0) on an old school Naish 8'5" wave board.
No joke, it works like a charm. It keeps your wave board well locked as the cambered sail tends to hammer the board down. As a result, jumping is NO charm. Manoeuvrability neither. But if you want to do straight slalom racks with lots of control in the chop, it's not that bad. The old Naish has an extreme wave scoop / rocker line while the Kode hasn't, so it should go even better. About the NCX I can't say anything, but a no-cam RAF slalom sail should work pretty well on a board like the Kode. Wave handling will be poor of course, but that's a choice
