Default Isonic 107 and 117 or 130

I am planning to replace my 2013 Fanatic Falcon 112 (69 wide) and 142 (85 wide). Sails: 8.6, 7.8 and 7.0 Loft Racing Blade.

I think the Isonic 107 would be a no brainer. Would you recommend a carbon or a wood version?

I need some help choosing the right bigger size. Should I choose a 117 or a 130 and should it be carbon or wood? Early planing is important ofcouse. Maybe I will buy a 9.3 Racing Blade in the near future. Not planning to go any bigger.

My weight: 88kg. I am 196cm tall. I sail mostly in choppy conditions.

If you like the falcon 112 and 142 combo, it would make sense to stick with the iS107 and 130 combo. Especially if you intend getting a 9.3 at some point. Otherwise you might be disappointed with the low end from the 117 c/w the 130

Yes Mark I agree 107 and 127/130 if you are going to use a 9.3. If you want earlier planing go carbon. The 2013/14 carbon Isonics are more forgiving in chop than previous models.

If you sail mostly in choppy conditions, I would suggest to get the 107 in WOOD construction, which is much more comfortable, and to get the bigger board in Carbon. You will use the 107 in windy, therefore choppy, conditions, and the WOOD board will be much more comfortable, and will allow you to sail full on all the time, which will give you an advantage over the guys on carbon boards, who will have to back off from time to time. When you use the bigger board, it will be less windy, therefore not so choppy, and then the lighter, more responsive carbon construction will give you an advantage, because you won't have to back off due to chop.
