Advice on sails and fins for 2013 121L Carve
I've just got a 121L Wood Carve. I have 2 questions:
- Anyone have any experience using an 8.5 m sail with the board. I've got an old Tushingham Heckler rotational 8.5 and would like to use it with the Carve (and get rid of my old 148L BIC Techno I wa susinfg for bigger sails). Was wondering if an 8.5 would be too much vs. the 8m recommended max size and if I`d get away without it feeling too heavy
- I have the 42 cm Drake stock fin. Should I look to get a bigger fin for an 8 or 8.5m sail and likewise a smaller fin for a 5.5m I plan to use with the board. I've used the 42cm and it worked fine with my 7m Cammed sail, but thought that at top and bottom end of the sail range another fin would be noticeably better.
Thanks for any advice,

I sailed the 2012 version with a 7m no cam sail a while back and that is a nice combo and the board would have easily taken a 7.5 and still been great. I'm sure it will take an 8m but you are right a bigger fin would help perhaps 44cm.
As for your smallest sail it does seem a bit small for the board, perhaps if it was flat then just about ok but you will need a smaller fin, 34/32cm.
If you want to use the 8.5 on this size of board I recommend you get the Futura 121.
