Default D-ram = Technora?

I don't see the word 'D-ram' anymore on the Starboard site. Has it been replaced bij Technora? Is Technora as strong as D-ram?

Default RE: D-ram = Technora?

Hi there,

YES, Technora (tm etc) replaced Dyneema (tm etc) as the material of choice in the layups of both Wood (reinfocing areas) and general "DRAM" construction layups from about a year ago.

Technora (tm) is particularlty suitable as a reinforcement fibre in marine composite applications due to its lower moisture regain, higher elongation properties and ability to adhere stronger to resin reinforcement.

Absolute strength comparson between the two is difficult, as it relates (in practice) to each fibre/cloth in application (inc resin systems etc), but basically both Dyneema (tm) and Technora (tm) are amongst the highest breaking strain ratings of all commercially available organic fibres.

Cheers ~ Ian
