Hi..
My F159 is equipped with the standard Drake 70 fin. To me it seems pretty okay. Planes early, points well and speed is fine... BUT.. Some claim that the standard fin should and could be switched to a more "hi-tech" kind of fin, like a Deboichet etc. and that this will improve the boards performance dramatically.. Does it really matter from a recretional wiev?? |

Hey Per.
Yes, is does matter. If you only need one fin, go for a Debo R13 m+6. If you need a light wind fin, try R13 s+8. T.H |

I would say that it depends on your level of experiece. Many Recreational formula sailors may not notice any difference.
The biggest difference that you will notice between the Drake and a Debo it the increased control with the Debo in very powered or overpowered conditions. The Drakes are designed for lighter winds = softer fin. When the wind picks up, the Debo works better. It also depends on your weight. If you are heavy, the need for a stiffer fin increases = Debo. I am 80kg and use the Debo R13M 70 - standard rake. |
