What is with all these lame offshoots? Standup paddle-surfing, which everyone and his brother is all of a sudden taking up. What a bunch of clones rushing to copy one another. And then there's the plane masochistic paddleboarding which is basically surfing without the good part. WTF would want to paddle all day long without surfing?
Ridiculous! Both of em. |

I have some friends that are stand up paddeling their long boards on lakes. It doesn't appeal to me in the slightest, but if it toots their horn, why not. Something to do while waiting for the wind.
People are buying these things and having fun. Good for them and Starboard. |

I too looked upon stand up paddlers with disdain, until I got my wife one this past X mas. I have now been sucked in - SUP turns a day of sub-overhead mushy surf into EPIC WIN, and cruising in calm conditions is stupid fun.
