The fin box screw for my new Kombat (A-Box) comes with a rather thick washer. When installed it puts the head of the screw completely above the base of the board. Will this cause cavitation, or is it not a problem? On previous boards the screw was recessed into the fin tab so as to fit flush.

Hi Tomkat,
Agree this might look a bit ugly c/w countersunk versions. Chances of it causing siginficant performance issues in typical freemove (Kombat style) sailing are minimal, but if you experience (or feel you will) any issues, dont hesiatate to exchange the screw, remove the washer or otherwise streamline the setup. For production we'll look into that a bit further.. Thanks and Cheers ~ Ian |
