Yep, that's a carbon boom alright.

Those are some great pictures of the FOD in high-wind action, though.

aluminum boom wasnt available at the time yet.
Not able to get through customos for first few events

the 49er guys are only just getting carbon masts now
and eventually they will get carbon hulls

the 49er guys will tell you its a false economy to sell cheaper weaker equipment.
the message
build it right the first time, build it to last.

the 49er class should grow a bit more now

starboard must put forward the best equipment which includes a carbon boom.

Hi poster no.3
You say customs have an problem with the Aluminum boom! Can you please explain this. I cant imagine why customs would have any issue with a piece of sporting equipment.

Customs unfortunately held up the FOD booms in the UK so long that I had to fly out to Poland 1 day before it cleared, hence the reason I am using one of my old booms in the photographs. From Poland I had to fly to the US then Aus straight away, therefore I will have the new booms at the FW World Championships in Portugal.
