Thought that 162 is supposed to be the 'board'....
Looks like the old maestro has done it again.... everyone knows he is on 161 and RS-6 sails, what about current fins ? |

Wojtek is on current fins... he's using Kashy's.
I think its kind of cool that someone can (potentially) win a World Title on superceded gear. Yes, its bad for the marketing of the current gear, but it also shows that there's no reason people should be intimidated to start FW racing because they don't want to buy the newest equipment. A second hand F161 from last year and sails from 3 seasons back are quite adequate ... Steve was 2nd last year at the World's using a superceded F160... Interesting to note that almost all the Starboard teamriders in the Top 20 are using the FWOD version of the F162. It's heavier, with the extra paint on the bottom, but it doesn't appear to be any slower than the normal F162...

It is not necessarily bad for the market that an older board is winning. For an amateur it is an awfully lot of money to by new equipment, given that it will be outdated the next season, but if the board will be competitive for several seasons maybe a person that normally buys second-hand would take the step to by new equipment.

and importantly... if there was'nt a bouyant 2nd market, new kit would not shift.

Not to bad... Last edited by Papounet; 16th September 2008 at 05:27 PM. |

Put a 162 under the feet of Wojtek, and it will be the fastest board...

The question is: Why some of the best FW riders in the world guys did no choose to race with the 162? Anyone out there? ;-)
