I got my Kode 74 a couple of weeks ago. I need a bigger fin for 4.5 to 5.2 sail. This is my high wind board on flat water/ bump and jump.
The board came w/ a 22 cm wave fin. I'm choosing between a MFC 25 or 28 cm freewave fin. Any suggestions? Dan Last edited by dan e; 22nd November 2008 at 02:18 PM. |

Congrats on a nice board.
While the Kodes prefer a bit smaller fins for pure wave sailing, they can definitely also be trimmed for a more blasting type ride with bigger straighter fins. If you're looking at the MFC freewave, I think the 25 will be the best option. The 28 might be a bit better when really underpowered with 5.2 (if you're heavy or heavy footed) but even for powered up 5.2 and certainly with a 4.5 the 25cm will make the boards much better balanced. It will also "connect" better to the original Drake 22 (which is also nice for freeride in gnarly, windy conditions). |

Thanks Ola. I'll try the 25 cm. MFC Freewave.
Appreciate your suggestion since i won't have much time testing fins on this board. I''ll only be using it when my IS 86 feels too big. Powered up 5.2 and smaller. I weigh 155lbs. Dan |
