Aloha guys
need some genuine advice on how to replace my old boom. I am not buying carbon to limit expenses. I got an offer in the UK for a Severne Blue Line continuous alloy (T8 aluminium) boom, size 140-190 but though I am a Severne sails user, haven't seen any reports of their reportedly new booms. Anyone tried it? Is it Severne who actually makes it or is it Aeron (they look very much alike)? alternatives are Aeron continuous alloy 28 mm (or even 26 mm provided this isn't too small for a T8 boom?). Or I could buy a good old Hawaiian Pro Line same size and material. thanks as usual any tip would be of great help! dom |

I have tried the Severne booms and they are nice. The full carbon boom is amazing, just feels so good in the hands.
Alu version is basically an Aeron, but with the usual Severne tweeks. Things like the clamp have a rubberised outer, so you can open and close it easier. Nothing on the website yet, but maybe soon? Think these have only just come through, and I've a couple on order. Looking forward to getting them! Let us know how you go! |

Hi Dominic72,
You have 2 models, the Blue Line and the Alu Race. For wich sail you want it. The Alu Race is really close to carbon boom and cost a lot less. All the best

HI guys
thanks Stoofer, Remi and Griff for your comments and answers. I'm planning to use my new boom with my 105L Kombat with Ezzy 5.2, Severne S-1 5.9, North Duke 6.4 and even NP Excite 6.9 I'm in the market for an ALU, continuous alloy boom. I was thinking of buying Aeron as they offer a 150-200 sizing which would allow me to use my entire sail range with just one boom. Severne Blue line, though, would work fine as well, especially if I were to buy smaller sails. Pity though there isn't a single picture on the entire www regarding this boom. Do9es any of you guys have a picture of the Blue Line Severne Boom (or similar?) |
