Consider the kiters that are now course racing (upwind / downwind). They are trying to figure out what works best and all are using milti-fins at the moment. However, their boards are relatively small compared to formula boards and a single long fin simply has too much lift for their narrow boards, so they use three or four small fins. They are all experimenting with different board and fin designs, but the bottom line is that they are pretty darn fast around a formula course in windy conditions (20 - 30 knots) for a variety of reasons.

I don't think there is a direct correlation between the two (formula and kiting), but it's interesting to see them developing their sport.

Nice video, looked like a lot fun, racing and working out what works best. I liked the "non acid rivalry" feel.
