Which are the differences between the flare 99 and the 111 one?do they have the same length and width? In case it was like I have asked which one would be better for me knowing that the conditions when I would use it are of light wind using sails as 5.8 or 6.2 maximum but I would also like to use it with 5.0? Knowing that my weight is of 67 kg would I feel, in case I get the 111 one, that it is big for me?
thanks for your advice bye |

A question for Taty, really (and I'll try to get him in here too) but since your pretty much my weight and use similar sail sizes I'll have a go at it and suggest you're gonna be most happy with the 99. I have no problem using it with a 6.3. Depending on your style and skill you might wanna tune it with a bigger fin.
The difference between the 99 and 111 is only thickness (as far as I know, might be some other very subtle differences too). |

Hi,
you are not a heavy weight. Go for the 99. The 111 does not feel big, but if you plan to sail with 5.0 too the volume could be a bit too much for you. All the best, Chris

sbaisen,
I contacted Taty and he said while he he has the 99 himself, he feels that the 111 is better for sliding, speed and moves with a 6.0 sail. He is 73 kilos though and as Chris points out, the 99 still seem like a better allround size at 67 kilo and 5.0-6.2. Taty also confirms only thickness differ. |

I just sailed the 111 on sweet water, but the board plans extremely early and without any effort. As well for switch stance and little slides the board is great. You can start to introduce a move without having any extra gust of wind and you will always sail a size smaller than normal. The lenght is 244 cm and the width 64.5 cm in both models, exactly the same.
"In my opinion the 111 feels a bit smaller and more comfortable like a board in this size can be expected." All the best, Chris

Hi All,
Both The 99 and 111 flare 2007 was tested here on Bonaire and when I tested them I was on 5.6 and 6.0 sails. I will caranteed you 100% that you wil have fun on either the 99 or 111. The board I like more with the 6.0 was the 111 because it's more floaty and it never lose speed when going switch stance. So if you are sailing on a 5.2 up tp 6.4 I will recomend you the 111 If you are sailing on 5.2 to 5.6 then the 99 will do the job. the the 88 flare will be mostly for hing wind conidtions, so 3.7 to 4.7 5.2 those are the great sizes for the 88. this will answer most of you question i hope.
