Starboard equivalent for HiFly Mambo

Hi there,
I'd like to buy the equivalent to a HiFly Mambo from Starboard.
The HiFly board has meassures:
Length: 275 cm (9???0??�)
Wide: 80 cm
Volume: 175 L
Weight: 15,9 kg

It's got a dagger board, and you don't need to do water/beach start; though it won't be as easy as with the bigger boards like HiFly Motion/Primo.

I've been looking at the Starboard Go. Eventhough it doesn't have a dagger board, would it be as easy to handle as the Mambo?

The boards would be used for one week courses.

I think whether the Starboard GO 155 (255 long x 85 cm wude) or the HiFly Mambo (275 long x 80 cm wide) is going todepend a great deal on the skill levels you are teaching.
If you are teaching new beginners, the Mambo (or the Starboard Rio or Start M) will prove to be much better as beginners usually depend on the center board to keep the upwind.
If you are teaching more advanced students with all the basic skills already mastered (balancing on the board, uphauling, beachstarts, getting underway, tacking, basic jibes, planing a little, and staying upwind without a centerboard or daggerboard, then the GO 155-170 will prove to be alot more popular with your students.
The GO boards will plane earlier (due to the additional width) and have a significantly better overall range of use.

We already use the Start for beginners. But we get some people who've done some course already, and want something more advanced. But usually they cannot really do a beach start, so they haven't mastered the basic skills, but they still want something more advance.
I just don't want them to manage to leave the beach but then having to go and rescue them back

Hi Gades,
Hmmmmm... how many days (hours) on the water for them to reach this level?
Most "A Taste of Windsurfing" students can beachstart by the end of their 2nd session. (1.5 - 2 hours on the water).
Perhaps have them "take a little test" before you put them on the GO boards?
Have them sail the Starts with the centerboard up, and with a larger rig to prove to your instructors that they can stay upwind without the center board. If they pass the "test" then they can sail the GO boards.
And, just having them sail the Starts without the centerboard, and with a slightly larger rig, should be an "upgrade" by itself.
