Cambers on RDM

I'm looking into a North F8 RAM 5.8, only thing is my mast is RDM (430, 100% carbon).

Anyone ever tried this kind of setup?

Will it still be possible to rig the sail? Will the cambers not rotate properly?

I believe this may have answered my question. I'm going to assume that the 2 dots that appear under RDM, when I've entered my sail details, mean that it can work, but not as well as with SDM...

Wy not getting a Hot Sails Maui GPS? They are wonderful sails designed for RDM masts. Or you can get a 6.0 Speed Demon that is very fast and easier to handle than a cambered. You can find them in a variety of price options (2008-2010, new-used for $230-600) at the Hot sails shop on line site http://www.hotsailsmauishop.com/search.aspx?find=6.0 Highly recommended!

Gaastra vapours are designed to set on rdm's, might be worth considering?? I've tried an rdm on NS Warps and the old Daytona's and Match-racers but they were not to good. Don't know about F8 Ram, but I'd guess they will kinda work OK-ish!

1 > The bend curve of your RDM mast probably dont match with the F8, much of RDM masts are +- Constant Curve and NS have flex in the top ( less than Pryde )

2 > Using a RDM mast with a SDM design sail involve :
- Replacing of cambers with RDM ones ( better )
- Tuning of battens with spacers ( a lot ) to counterbalance narrowness of the mast

I tried the sail out today. Didn't need to change the cambers or anything. The cams popped on, and around during sailing, with no problems. Definitely more difficult to downhaul than a non-cam but much more powerful low-end and the one good gust I got proved how fast this sail is.

More difficult to tack and light wind jibe, but in carve jibes the added weight didn't bother me too much. We'll see how the sail grows on me after an outing with more wind.
