"Hi Luc,
If you are looking for very early planning, the Futura 141 W/C can help but very close to the 133, so better at this time to switch to an iSonic 131 W/C. Big difference between your actual Futura 133 and you can keep your 122. iSonic 131 with 9m² is absolute perfect size." This is the answer from a formerly asked question on ask our team forum I have a tabou Rocket 125 and are looking for a new board that will give me earlier planing. I am lookin to the Futura 133 or 144 wc. My sail combo for my big board will be ncx pro 6.5 and ncx 8.0, but I am if necessary, going to buy a bigger sail( either glide 8.5 or element8.5 or 9.5) It is important to me that I can use my 6,5 ncx on my big board. What board should i choose, and is the isonic an earlier planner than the futura( 131 isonic versus futura 133)? Even if we use the same sail size? Is the isonic realy an earlier planner? I am 89 kg and are not yet, but almost planing throug the carve jibes. My smaller board is a fsw 104 liter Last edited by MOP; 7th March 2010 at 01:50 PM. |

Hi
I have Futura133 & iSonic150, which is very good combination. For the iSonic150 I can give all the best recomondations. So with this boards I cover from 6,0 - 11,0 m2 weather. |

Thanks for the answer.
What sails sizes do you think futura 133 really covers? Does it cover 6.0-9.5? Will isonic 131 or futura 141 be the earliest planner and does both of them cover sizes down to 6,5...? |

I'm not sure that the iSonic 131 can work well with a 6.0m rig as previously I was considering a 101 to complement my 5.8m and I was told that this board was too big and peaked more with sails around 7.0m. Therefore, a board 3 sizes up probably wont work well at all with a 6.0m.
However, that being said it would probably still be sailable. As for early planing, width and subsequent fin size plays a big role in early planning. The iSonic 131 is 85cm wide whereas the Futura 141 is only 80.5cm wide. Therefore, on the iSonic you should be able to take a bigger fin/sail and get better early planing performance. I've also read that Slalom boards, as opposed to freeride, have a cleaner release making pumping more efficient and increasing early planing ability.

The ISonic 131 doesn't really feel balanced with anything smaller than 7.8m.
