Hi Kevin, and others.
This if interesting. Actually I reduced my own quiver last year from Carve 145 with a 9.4 as biggest down to S-type 115 (lovely board) and 7.5 as max. The dream was simplicity and with a little more technique I wouldn't loose much time on the water. Reality was that I lost about 60% of my planing time, and ended up as a very frustrated surfer. We (at least the bigger of us, I'm 97 kgs and 193 cm) simply need the +80 cm and + 9m2 equipment to get a sport out of it in everyday conditions. So Kevin, wouldn't you, seriously, need some bigger gear for a trip in the "real" world (outside Maui ;-) to get more than 50% planing time. Even though I'm sure your planing technique on the St 115 is a lot more efficient than mine ![]() |

Per,
I do absolutely love the 115 Stype and have used it around the world in some pretty dang light winds. I used it in Costa Brava where the wind was so light it was pretty much formula weather. I think It would be ok. Maybe I should travel around with it more just for fun. I think if we narrowed it down to only one board I would chose this board! But one is not that much fun.. I could go with two. Stype 115 and the Acid 80. Kp

Hi Kevin.
Thanks. I've had 11 boards until now and the ST115 is definitely the best of them all. Aren't we into a weight factor here (except from the fact that you are a professional end I'm a Mr. ordinary ;-). I guess I'm close to 10 kgs more than you, and so should use a ST 126 with + 8m2 rig to get a compareable planing threshold or what? B) |

Per,
I think this is what Antoine was using, the 126 and the 8m and he was going good. He is probably 20kg heavier than me. SO i would say since you have the 115 already you should work on your technique most of all! Kevin
