Default Extra wide boom

Dear Kevin,

There is a picture of you in a Bic advertisement in one of the magazines from about 2001 I think. In the photo you are on formula gear with a Fiberspar Boom with a really wide head piece (as well as a wide tail piece). I'm just wondering if the boom was experimental and how you found the handling with all that extra leverage - I guess it must have had its flaws, or we would see more booms like this....

All the best,

Shane

Hi Shane,

Yeah that was a custom job, it worked good, but only for light wind. Once you got up and running it was hard to handle. I guess it was cause it was so far from the sail???
