small crack on wood

After 4 summer i have seen on the deck my Isonic small crack of the wood .
How i can close this crack and i can be sure water don't entry in the board?

This topic has been discussed a few times before. It's typical for the wood to get small "cracks" and discolor a bit. NO LEAKS, just cosmetic issues. To stop the progression, I painted on small amounts of polyurethane on the cracks to keep water from penetrating the VERY thin layer of wood.

Should this happen? Probably not, but it seem to be the norm with wood boards that are a few years old.

Where did you buy the polyurethane ?

Any paint or hardware store carries polyurethane. Nothing special. I have also used Marine Spar Varnish. Both work at stopping the discoloration, but they both darken the spot where you paint the board a bit. Not a perfect match in color.

I have also used it on some small dings where the wood was clearly damaged (2mm deep) just to seal any cracks. Nothing that penetrated through all layers of the board, but just a precaution to prevent the wood from absorbing the water.

It takes about a minute to dab on the paint with a small brush, dry overnight and on the water the next day. One coat seems to work fine.

I've tried the polyurethane varnish around the repaired spot on my formula and it worked perfectly. Thanks.
Like you said, it darkens the spot, but no worries.

I thought I'd mention this because I think it can help many of us with little deck cracks.
