Miami, September 22, 2006
Ahoy everyone! On behalf of the Alex Caviglia Bluewater Foundation, we are proud to announce the inaugural Alex Caviglia Bluewater Classic Regatta, from Friday, January 12 to Sunday, January 14, 2007 in Coconut Grove, Florida. It will benefit Shake?A-Leg Miami, an organization devoted to use sailing in order to bring hope, confidence, social integration, independence and fun back into the lives of people with disabilities and their families. As individuals, we can all make a difference to the world we live in. Whether we contribute to our immediate family, our neighborhood or globally, every small kindness will count. The Caviglia family lives in Miami and has contributed to its community for almost 30 years. Sadly, in November of 2004, we lost Alex, a consummated kite-boarder and windsurfer, champion multi-class sailor, soccer coach, business and family man. To celebrate his memory, we take great pleasure in inviting you to be a part of this fun Regatta and to discover the social benefits of inclusive sailing. The Alex Caviglia Bluewater Classic will offer good fun, top level competition in a variety of open classes, superb race management, a perfect venue, terrific parties, and great food. Races will run daily from the mornings through the early afternoons. Spectator boats will provide up close views of the on-the-water action. Sailors and non-sailors can meet at the evenings? party. These gatherings will include many activities and live performances as well as videos of the day?s events. The organizations listed below are working together to ensure the success of this sailing festival. For up-to-date information and registration, please visit us at our websites after October15, 2007, www.cavigliafoundation.org, www.shakealegmiami.org, and www.miamiwindsurfing.com.. There will be links detailing where to go and what to do in Miami during this year?s Regatta. Thank you for your past and future efforts on behalf of The Alex Caviglia Bluewater Foundation. We invite you to participate and hope to see you in Miami next January, 2007! Very warm regards, Silvia, Michael and Bianca Caviglia |

Rs-X's will be available for charter for this event, and the OCR the following week. Details will be available shortly. This will be the best two weeks of windsurfing this winter, for sure.

Information on housing, transportation and racing site can be had from the OCR website, which follows the Alex Caviglia Bluewater Regatta. http://www.ussailing.org/olympics/RolexMiamiOCR/participant/index.htm
We are currently working on the charter board situation for those who want to charter for BOTH events...which we think will be a lot of folks. |

Looks like we will have Konas for charter, and perhaps Techno's as well. Of course, there will also be RS:X's for charter.

Latest info--
RS:X teams from all over the world are now coming to the event: Canada US Mexico DR Argentina Brazil Poland plus many others....it is the RS:X North Americans. Mike Gebhardt will be here as RS:X class representative, interacting with the RC to have good courses/measuring, etc. International jury will be here for the event. Eduardo Owen reports that we will have a strong Formula Fleet including some top sailors from Argentina and Brazil. Gonzalo and Jimmy Diaz are tentatively on the list right now, with some other pros trying to come. Sounds like all the Florida sailors will be coming down for sure, including everyone from the most recent "i to i" in Fort Lodie Dodie. Remember, everyone can sign up on line http://www.kintera.org/site/c.lsKZL...k.BDD3/Home.htm And of course, Steve and Marty will be there with Konas complete available for charter. All boards are welcome here and we will have a class for everyone....raceboard, hybrid, formula and RS:X. We anticipate over 100 sailors right now. |

Also, housing info is available on the registration site.
http://www.kintera.org/site/c.lsKZL5PJLtF/b.2187723/k.BDD3/Home.htm Sign up asap as the rooms only get more expensive the closer you get to the event. DoubleTree is right across the street, so you would not need a car there. Ask for rooms under US Sailing. |
