i-sonic 107 mast track & strap ideal position

Hi,

I'm 177 for 73 kg, the sail I use is a NP RSR 7.8

mast track is 2,5 cm on the back, front strap all in the back, rear strap in the middle.

The stance is good for me, but maybe 'all' is a little too on the back ... I feel the board too sticky in the water. Using the mast track a little forward causes the sail to touch the water closing the gap.

Anyone who wants to share is trim (for a light weight surfer)?

Hi Giorgio, I am 72Kg and have a Is-111 2009. Assuming the inserts are in the same position the only difference is that I use both set of straps all the way back. Mast track is about 1cm from center. Fin is most of the time a Talon 40cm. With a 7.8 you might want a longer fin (the Is used to come with a Drake 38 and 46!) but otherwise you seem set up just about right ... what do you mean by sticky? My Is very low on the water but speed is fine with a large untapped potential on top ...

Docgr, Although as my good mate ULF pointed out that I'm slightly heavier than you, good tuning, is good tuning. Your strap positions are spot on, fin size correct. Base I would use reccomended, or back -1cm at max. Boom would be in the middle of the cutout at least for a RSR. If your sail is in the water all the time, move harness lines back, esp front one. Also check downhaul, you may have too much on. Aside from this, if you are using this combo in very light winds, say 10 knots, a bigger fin will help as well, say a 42/43.

On the 107 I use the mast track on recommended, the fin I use is a Vector fin Canefire 40cm and the 7.6m MauiSails TR-7. The board is flying perfectly and one of my fastest set up so far this season.
Footstarps on the board are both front and back all the way back and I am 73kg. Boom about eye level.
I think the fin is the trick here.

Agree with everyone here.

On my 107 I use the track in the middle most of the time (a bit forward if its nuclear) and all my straps are in the back holes.

I use 42cm SL2 on 8.6m, 40cm Birdi with 7.8m, 38cm Birdi or 36 SL2 with 7.2m if it's super, super windy. Great board; so versatile. I found I kept the boom at the same height as last year even with the lowered section in the board. A good fin makes a world of difference...
