Phantom 380 Daggerboard sideplate issue

After only a few uses the holes in my 3month old Phantom 380 daggerboard sideplates are now severly elongated and jambing up the daggerboard due to the daggerboard PIN being too short

I have filled in the warranty claim under the Product assistance section on this site 2weeks ago requesting to have the sideplates replaced but still have had NO RESPONSE

Did your side plate have a washer inside or not?

Please send again your warranty claim, may be they didn't see it.

Remind you that need the Warranty Claim, the invoice, 3 photos (Serial number, the part broken and one we can see all the board). Send also to your distributor to be sure they get it.

If you don't get answer in 48h, make me up up date.

Is there supposed to be a washer inside the sideplates? My new Phantom has brass reinforcements in the side plates. No washers though.

Also, any recommendations on shimming the centerboard to help it stay down in lightly loaded situations? It sometimes rotates up a bit when sailing upwind in light winds. Once there is some side load on the centerboard in moderate conditions it seems to stay in place.

Yes brass reinforcement, correct, I didn't know how to say in english

If you want to make the side plate more tied to your dagger board, you can paint your side plate to increase the friction. Actually i don't have this problem can be a way to fix it.

Hi Remi,
No brass reinforcement in my sideplates Remi just elongated damaged plastic holes,
mainly due to the brass swivel pin being too short causing it to only locate in the sideplate by
less than 1mm and slipping out of the sideplate altogether and jamb up the daggerboard

And still NO reply to my Warranty claim
If Starboard could simply send me some new sideplates or at least the brass bushes and a longer pin I could fit them and no more problem

My Phantom is a 2009 model but purchased new in March 2011 (obviously old stock) but still new so should still be covered by warranty

Starboard knows about the problem thats why they now fit the brass bushes,
I did a search and it was a problem with other Phantom owners

I, along with two other friends, just purchased 2011 Phantom 380's. None of the daggerboard side plates in any of these boards came with brass re-inforcements, so what gives?? Is Starboard only shipping some 380's with these re-inforced plates and not others? Can I return the non-reinforced plates that came with the board for new ones that have the re-inforcements? Please advise!

Hi Can 32,

If your board is a 2011 model you should have the side plate with the reinforcement so can file the Warranty Claim for this case. If it's an 2010 you can order it.
