Hey.
I hope a couple or more of you will answer my quick question. I have for long been considered an UltraSonic, but unfortunately the price is far above my level, so I would like to hear about a Futura 122 instead . Can it work in 12 to 15 knots of wind with a two camber freeride sail in size 8.2 or 8.7 ? And can you "easily" reach speed of 20 to 25 knots in these conditions and with this combo ? I weigh 80 kilograms and is a freerider by heart. My level is intermidiate +. Doing jibes, water starts, etc. Best regards Claus. |

Hej Claus
I am also from DK, but guess we better keep it in english :-) I weigh in at 87 kg, and have the 2009 FUTURA 122, which should be 117 l. Excellent board ! Very fast free-race board, that just flies above choppy waters. My largest sail is a 8.0 V6 2 camber, and with my technique/weight 12 kts are well below planning, but with your 80 kg + 8.7 sail you will be close to planning. The smallest sail I use on it, is a 6.2 HELLCAT, but the 6.7 HELLCAT is the sweetspot combination for this sail/board. If you will be sure to plane, then you might consider the 133 FUTURA, which have had excellent reviews as well. |

Yes, we keep it in English.
I am just getting a bit confused when Neil Pryde wind range chart for a 8.2 h2 center is 12 knots ... So maybe I should ask which size Futura is fitting this size (8.2/H2)? Claus |

Claus,
The Futura 141 would probably be the best choice for your 8.2 H2 in 12 knots. I have the Futura 133 & weigh 75 kg. For me, the 133 feels best with a 7.6 sail. It is fine with an 8.5, but does not plane up nearly as early or feel as good as a larger board with an 8.5 sail in 12 knots. The 133 can feel better than the 141 with your 8.2 but only in higher wind speeds. Coachg |

interesting discussion; at 95kg i've thought that futura 133 is too big for wind range of my 8m (superfreak with top end bias) and have thought it best as a 9m racy sail board. definitely speedy and early planing..

Unreg,
Are you talking about the 133 in 12 knots of wind? In higher winds I would agree with you but in 12 knots I don't think the 133 would be too big for a sailor of any weight. Coachg |

agreed coachg, but if it gets big for me at 95kg i think the 121/8.2 might work out better for the o.p.

Hi Claus
If you want a Futura 122, the best sail for this conditions for you should be 8.2, but if you can get a Futura 133, 8.6 will be beter, personally use Turbo 8.6 and perfect combination. Hope this help All the best
