Isonic 122 vs Futura 122,133

I have the option to buy a futura 133/122 or an isonic 122 although the isonic is about half the price.
I am an intermediate sailor weighing 67kg and will mainly be using a 8m or 6.5m sail in winds between 11kts and 18kts in fresh water.

I know that the futura will be more suitable, but is it worth double the isonic?, I have sailed futuras in the past.

How easy is the isonic to sail? The closest board I have tried to it is a fanatic falcon 121, are they similar?

I can just about waterstart and am learning carve gybes

Also,

The futura is carbon and a 2010 model

The isonic is wood and a 2008 model

Hi Mike,

This iSonic is a bit more easy to the Fanatic if you want to make a scale on this, but if you are a not good jiber and want to improve this, the Futura will be much better for this

hi mike,

sorry remi to correct you... VERY difficult to ride and jibe with the falcon. from the other side falcon is fast but very technical to have fun on it.

as remi said - for your skills Futura is MUCH better for you than iSonic, for handling on chops or jibing. but iSonic is closer to Futura, than falcon to iSonic.

you will learn to stay in planning after your jibe in 30% time on Futura compare to iSonic. i dont compare it with falcon.

F122 is the best choice. I122 will hate a 6.5!

I am looking for a 3-4 years old startboard iSonic 120-130 L board (used, but in stable conditions)
with skeg for personal usage (72 kg).

I have a Hifly Matrix 145 (NS Transam 6.0, NS Disco 7.0), and try to move for a board that is planning earlyer.

At your level get the Futura. In addition to jibing it is far easier to tack the Futura than the Isonic.

For half the price i would get the Isonic, And get a smaller board for windy 6.5 days to gybe on! Do you have smaller sails and boards? Where do you sail?
