Just about time to start a bit of a dedicated thread to celebrate windsurfing. It will still be in the Olympics in 2016 http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/olympics/20284543 , thanks in part to 32,000 people who signed the petition to keep windsurfing in the Olympic games.
Now ... if we could only come up with a better board than the RS-X!!!! |

Windsurfing at the recent Olympics was the best coverage on TV that I had seen and the narrative made a big difference as did the smooth organisation by the Brits. Particularly engaging was the display of great sailing technique by both men and women events. Maybe the gear matters less than the way the story line is communicated. Let us hope that Rio is as well done.

I agree. The BBC put on great coverage and with Starboard rider Simon Bornhoft ( windwise.net ) providing much of the commentary. Couple that with almost perfect winds for the format and it was a treat to watch. Over here people who do not really understand sailing we're often talking about the windsurfing as a result. Hopefully Rio can continue that.
