Default Kombat, freestyle-freeride

Im a windsurfer from Turkey. The water is flat here in Alacati and Im planning to buy a board that I could use both for freestyle and slalom. As far as I read from the boards' definitions starboard kombat seems like the board I need but Im not sure. Can I reach the top speeds that I can get with a typical slalom boards and also do the freestyle moves that I could do with a typical freestyle board? Should I by slalom and freestyle board seperate?

You will never get the best for two such different disciplines, you will never get the performance of dedicated boards from a crossover, here my 2 cents: if you want more slalom than freestyle better get a S-Type, it is faster for slalom and capable of some freestyle tricks or a new Futura which is a combination of S-Type, Carve and iSonic. If you want more freestyle with freeride blast (not really slalom) get the Kombat, it is a really good crossover board not master of all disciplines but very capable, very fun to ride and it can be really tuned to suit your day on the water. If you are serious about slalom and freestyle than get 2 boards.

Top level freestyle and top level slalom performance is rather hard to combine into one board ad mmoritz writes. Kombats are fast and you can bust freestyle moves on them, but in each discipline a specialized board will work better of course. If you're not necessarily need that type of top performance the Kombat wil be a good choice. Its a very all round type of board.

The Futuras are also freeride booards, but they will not be so good for freestyle since they lack the ability to mount a single footstrap rear. Last years S-type could be an option. Fast boards that also can be used with a single rear strap. If you lean more towards freestyle, last years Flare could be an option too. That board got a really fast slalom rocker. Due to softer rails and only a single strap rear it will not be as fast as a slalom board, but with the right fin it can be rather fast still (08 Flare have a different rocker - more freestyle specific).

So, overall, the Kombat is the best compromise between fun/tricks and speed/blasting.
