Wood desk water marks

Hi, my Evo 74 has got some discolouration on the wood desk particularly just infront of the from foot strap pads. It looks like the damp could be getting in under the pads although they seem to be qiite well stick down.

I was keen to see if there was any advice on if I should just seal the deck I can get to or should I peel back the straps sand back to the wood and reseal.
