Default Berky 288

Just picked up a Berky 288 from a friend that was not using it anymore. Can anyone shed some light on the make up of the board, it fees reel stiff, no damage and is light. That is all I know except that a few articles I have seen says it is fast. Info like sail range, fin size, how much volume? any pro's or con's? would be great.

Thumbs up

Very fast and lively when powered up. Technical to ride because of the asymmetrical volume distribution and kind-of thick rails in the tail. I have a 295 that doesn't get used much anymore (left it at my Uncle's house on the beach so it's there when I visit). For several years, NOBODY passed me when riding the 295. I suspect a 288 is good for 7.0-7.5 or so down to whatever you can hold on the water. The 295 was rated from 9.0 to 7.0; I was able to squeeze 6.5 out of her. It will respond well to pumping the sail / board / fin. The volume of my 295 was 113, I think; 288 is probably ~100 L. Good luck.
