Hi Kevin,
I know that you probably do not have a lot of experience with the biggest S-Type (137), even though you may have something to say. I have a problem with spinout on S-Type when going upwind, in fact I induce the spinout by changing radicaly from slight downwind or haflwind course to sharp upwind (I like it as I can lay myself over the water and sheet in completely). What do you thing about the fins size (I have now the standard 480 freeride flow). And I was sailing only 7.0 (currently my biggest one) at 15 to 22 knots. Ian already gave me some tips but you know... the more people the better. If you have a time, while good mooded, you can check the thread in Team Forum....link below. http://www.star-board.com/forum/showthread.php?t=4395 Thanks a lot. Cheers Michal. |

Michal,
Well for me I think that the fin might even be too big for just a 7.0. Like you said I never really used the 137, I used mainly the 115 with a 7.0 and a 34cm fin. So that being said I would try downsizing your fin a bit. I use to use a Techtonics Tomahawk 34 but now I have been working with MFC on some new fins coming out soon. So we will see. I would try a smaller fin maybe something like 42, maybe even a Debocheit SL 5. Hope that helps a bit. Kevin

Hi Kevin,
I already found the cause of spinouts. There was an oily spot on the bottom, 10cm behing the mast track. As i repaired my boards after the season I sanded the bottom with 400 grit. A month ago I was on trip on Corsica (an island close to France) and i was few times on the S-Type with 8.5 and the spinouts are away...I could really see how good this board is. PS: I am now buying the 115 as well for 7.0 or 7.5 days...and i am really looking forward to it. Maybe a small question at the end...ist the futura a lot different to S-type, where is the difference most significant? Thanks and have a good time. Ciao Michal. |
