According to the test in the German Surf magazine, the Severne RedLine RDM 400 cm has 63.5% bottom flex and 73.3% top flex, i.e. IMCS 9.8. The IMCS stiffness was measured to 18.0.
I am also searching for mast bend characteristics, but for the North Platinum 490 cm and 520 cm masts. Anyone? |

Salut !
Have a look at this page - it contains data of mast characteristics: http://www.peterman.dk/masts-all-imcs01.htm |

Yes, it is a great database, but it only has data for the Platinum 550, and the bend characteristics are changing between the sizes.
Another thing that I am curious about is the standard deviation of the bending characteristics for a specific mast model. I guess they vary quite significantly. Adding to this are individual variations in sail cutting and sewing between sails of the same specs. Some sails are not so sensitive to variations in mast characteristics, but others are, and then there is a lottery to get a perfect matching sail and mast. Maybe it is like selecting cross country racing skis, where you have to test lots of identical looking pairs on the snow to find out which ones that are competitive? Your welcome, I don't have a 430 Red Line, but a Severne Blue Line (75%) 430. Am not sure if I'm able to measure it properly. Let me know if your looking for the Red or if Blue is ok.
